Insights: Launched in 1993 to mark the 20th anniversary of Gerald Genta's Royal Oak, the Offshore model created an even bigger impact than its 1972 "big sister." With its impressive proportions for the time (42 mm), visible rubber gasket and rugged appearance, it was nicknamed "The Beast."
Created by designer Emmanuel Gueit, son of Jean-Claude Gueit, the Royal Oak Offshore was inspired by the creativity of the 1980s and the ultra-powerful yacht races that inspired its name. Although initially criticized, the model was adopted by the young generation passionate about extreme sports, becoming a collection in its own right.
In 2018, for its 25th anniversary, the brand reissued the original model in steel with a blue dial, without the Arabic numerals that characterize it today.
