Insights: In the ʽ50s the original Co-Pilot Ref. 765 AVI was one of the stars alongside another Breitling icon: the Navitimer. With its bold design, engraved rotating bezel and highly legible dial, the 765 AVI immediately became the perfect companion to the Navitimer as a rugged and reliable pilot's watch. Today, the AVI Ref. 765 1953 Re-Edition recreates down to the last detail one of the earliest realizations of the Co-Pilot Ref. 765 AVI. Its all-black dial, protected by a highly domed hexalite crystal, features the same Arabic numerals as the original 1953 Co-Pilot, with tone-on-tone chronograph counters for small seconds, 15 minutes and 12 hours. The hand-applied Super-LumiNova® coating was carefully chosen to recall the original luminescent material and give the AVI Ref. 765 1953 Re-Edition an added touch of vintage charm. The 41 mm stainless steel case is also identical, and the bezel is attached with three screws that are in exactly the same positions as those on the 1953 watch. Only two modern details make it possible to distinguish this new timepiece from its famous ancestor: water resistance has been increased to 3 bar (30 meters), and discerning observers will notice that the words "GENEVE" no longer appear on the dial. The AVI Ref. 765 1953 Re-Edition is powered by the Breitling Manufacture Caliber B09, a COSC-certified hand-wound caliber based on the renowned Breitling Caliber 01 and developed especially for historical reissues. It is available mounted on a vintage-inspired black leather strap with a pin buckle, in a limited edition of 1953 pieces, each bearing the engraving "ONE OF 1953." Source: breitling.com
